Propionic acid, also known as methylacetic acid, is miscible with water, ethanol, and other solvents. Propionic acid has dual application value in both feed and pharmaceuticals. In the feed sector, propionic acid and its salts are important feed mold inhibitors and preservatives, exhibiting effective inhibitory effects on molds and aerobic bacteria. They can effectively prevent feed heating, caking, nutrient loss, and mycotoxin production, significantly extending feed shelf life. In the pharmaceutical sector, propionic acid is an important pharmaceutical intermediate, and its derivatives can be used in the production of drugs such as vitamin B6, naproxen, and naftidrofuryl.
